The annual science fair at Hammond Westside Montessori was held Feb. 3 for fifth- and sixth-graders.
The students applied the scientific method to conduct independent or group research. The results of each student’s or group’s research was presented in a schoolwide science fair.
Students who placed first, second or third at the school-level fair went on to the regional competition, which was held at Southeastern Louisiana University on Feb. 18-19.
Winners of the school science fair were:
Sixth grade: Demetriane Anderson, first place; Noah Holman and Taylor Crawford, second; and Devaki Williams and Jaquan Livers, third.
Fifth grade: Corey “C.J.” Boice, first; Samuel Bell and Adam DeArmond, second; Izebella Russell, third.
Winners in the Elementary Division at the Regional Science Fair were Bell and DeArmond, first place; Holman and Crawford, second; Boice, second; Nathan Gendron, third; Russell, third; Anderson, third; and Williams and Livers, honorable mention.
