Interventional cardiologist Dr. Jorge A. Castellanos has joined North Oaks Cardiology in Hammond.

Castellanos specializes in the care of the heart and the cardiovascular system. He is fluent in English and Spanish and is specially trained to treat patients through noninvasive stress testing, diagnostic and interventional catheterization, peripheral vascular intervention, carotid angiography, rehabilitation and recovery, and echocardiography, a news release from North Oaks said.

“I feel fortunate to be able to help make a difference in my patients’ lives by using all available tools to prevent, diagnose and treat heart disease,” Castellanos said. “My goal is to care for my patients and their families with compassion, empathy and professionalism.”

Castellanos is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, the National Board of Echocardiography and the Board of Nuclear Cardiology.

He was fellowship-trained in interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease through Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he also served as chief fellow. He completed his internal medicine residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami in Florida.
