Walker student wins two scholarships _lowres

Giuseppe Rizzi, of Walker, has been awarded the National Merit Scholarship and the President’s Endowed Scholarship from Texas A&M University.

Rizzi was home-schooled for 12 years. He graduated with the Baton Rouge Holy Family Homeschoolers group on May 21 during a Mass and ceremony at St. Agnes Catholic Church, a news release said.

His curriculum included a dual-enrollment calculus II course at LSU and two satellite physics courses in cooperation with Clemson University, of South Carolina.

Rizzi will begin classes at Texas A&M this fall as a freshman honors student in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Dwight Look College of Engineering. He plans to become an electrical engineer.

His parents are Dr. Anthony and Susan Rizzi, of Walker.
