Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond will present “Broadway’s Next Hit Musical,” a musical comedy, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, in the downtown Hammond theater.
“As the scene on stage unfolds, the audience begins to realize that the show itself is based upon interactions with patrons prior to the show,” Columbia Theatre/Fanfare Interim Director Roy Blackwood said. “It’s masterful, really, and hilarious to experience a full-blown Broadway musical unfold right before your eyes. This is improvisation at its finest.”
According to Blackwood, audience members vote for their favorite song and watch as the cast turns it into an improvised musical, complete with memorable characters, witty dialogue and plot twists.
Tickets are $39 for loge, $25 for orchestra/balcony and $15 for students. Purchase tickets at the Columbia Theatre box office from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays, by phone at (985) 543-4371 or online at columbiatheatre.org.
All Southeastern faculty, retired faculty or university staff with ID may buy one ticket and receive one ticket at half-price. Both tickets must be purchased in the same transaction and for the same price at the Columbia box office. Call (985) 543-4371 for more information.
