Award-winning musician, author and storyteller Johnette Downing recently brought her show featuring songs based on Downing’s books for children, musical games and fun for all ages to Livingston Parish Library.

The performance of “Ready. Set. Groove!” was the kickoff to a series of special summer reading events by performers who will be visiting the library in June and July.

Other performers this summer include Rhythm/Soul, Hampstead Stage, Harvey Rabbit and Friends and more.

Downing’s library shows are supported by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development, Department of Culture, Recreation and Tourism in cooperation with the Louisiana State Arts Council, and as administered by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. Funding also came from the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Works.
