New patient appointments are being scheduled with orthopaedic surgeon and sports medicine specialist Katy Morris, who has joined North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center in Hammond and Livingston.
Morris specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of disorders of the bones, joints and muscles. As a sports medicine specialist, Morris treats a variety of injuries to the shoulders, knees, elbows, hips and ankles. In addition to traditional surgery, she is highly skilled in arthroscopic techniques — including minimally invasive procedures for the treatment of athletic shoulders and elbow pain, ligament reconstruction of the knee and rotator cuff repairs, a news release from North Oaks said.
A native of Destrehan, Morris comes to North Oaks from the San Diego Sports Medicine & Orthopaedic Center in California, where she completed a fellowship in sports medicine and served as a team physician for the San Diego Padres and San Diego State University Athletics. She graduated from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans, where she also completed an orthopaedic surgery residency. While at LSU, Morris was honored as 2008-09 Orthopedic Intern of the Year.
“Because I’m passionate about getting my athletes and patients back to the active lifestyle they enjoy, I work closely with my staff on prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation,” Morris said. “I help my patients get the expert care they deserve.”
