Girl Scouts and family members joined council board and staff March 29 at Girl Scout Camp Whispering Pines in Independence for a ribbon-cutting ceremony of the camp’s new swimming pool.
Girl Scout Daisy Kenzie Gradney, of Denham Springs, cut the ribbon, assisted by Girl Scout alumna Mary-Patricia Wray, Girl Scouts Louisiana East Chief Executive Officer Jackie Alexander, board Chairwoman Robyn Merrick, Vice President of Program and Properties Jill Pollard and Resident Camp Director Angela Arneal.
Kenzie’s name was selected in a drawing, allowing her to not only participate in the ribbon-cutting but to name the pool. Her choice was Cookie II.
Camp Whispering Pines offers campers amenities including a 23-acre lake for boating, tubing, fishing, giant water slide, a rock-climbing wall and high ropes course, nature trails, outdoor cooking, sports, science, nature and crafts.
