Four members of the Denham Springs High School Jacket Pride Band recently attended the McNeese State University Band Camp.
The training camp trip is part of the band’s push for growth and improvement under the leadership of band director Chad Campbell and assistant band director Caryle Latas.
The leaders have set a goal of building a more recognizable program for the community to enjoy and support, a news release said.
Ivy Richard, Paige LeJeune and Steven Broussard participated in the camp’s drum major program, designed to teach drum majors the knowledge, skills and confidence necessary to lead their peers and serve as assistants to their directors. Joshua Truax attended the instrumental music program, which provided a comprehensive level of musical instruction and playing techniques.
“We are proud of the efforts these students are making to continue to improve the Jacket Pride Band and hope the community will come out and support the entire DSH Band program during Friday night football, as well as the many other events that occur year round,” Elisa Richard, secretary of the Jacket Pride Band Boosters, said in the release.
