The Walker High School FFA chapter recently took on a community service project to make no-sew fleece blankets for needy children .

A “Fundraiser Friday” at Walker High, in which students had the option to pay $2 for free dress, raised just over $1,000. The money was used to buy enough fleece to make 99 blankets for distribution at South Walker Elementary, North Corbin Elementary, Levi Milton Elementary and Walker High.

FFA members signed up to stay after school Dec. 7-8 to make the blankets, listen to Christmas music and drink hot chocolate. Each member was responsible for making six blankets.
