The Albany-Springfield Branch of the Livingston Parish Library is offering a six-week Ukulele for Beginners course for ages 18 and older.
The first session will be from 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the library, 26941 La. 43, in Hammond.
Learn how to properly hold and strum a ukulele, how to tune the instrument, read tabs and how to change between chords. The Friends of the Livingston Libraries will provide the ukuleles, which can be checked out and taken home to practice.

Create a new résumé or update an old one at a workshop from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 27 at the Main Branch of the Livingston Parish Library. Bring an old résumé if you have one.
This workshop for adults will be held in the computer lab of the library, 20390 Iowa St., Livingston. Registration is required; call (225) 686-2436.
Adults age 18 and older can learn the magic of stop-motion animation at the Main Branch of the Livingston Parish Library from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
Participants will create original stories with props they design using free apps and library iPads. Final products will be published on the library’s YouTube channel.

ACLP to mark Women’s Week
The Arts Council of Livingston Parish and the Women’s Council of Greater Baton Rouge are preparing to celebrate Women’s Week, Sept. 25 to Oct. 4.
This year’s theme is “Women Leading the Way.”
The ACLP will feature women artists in its September gallery exhibit and sale.
A free reception open to the public will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 12 at the Arts Council Gallery inside the Arts Council of Livingston Parish, 133 N. Hummell St., in Denham Springs. Refreshments will be served.
