Brad McKee, co-founder of The Disposable Heroes Project, crossed the finish line Saturday in Hammond and ended a 200-mile Honor Run for U.S. military veterans and their families. McKee, a former Marine Corps sergeant sniper, runs to raise awareness for the needs of veterans and to raise money for the Disposable Heroes Project, a nonprofit organization he founded with two lifelong friends, Samuel Macaluso and Kyle Clements, in 2009. McKee stressed the importance of taking care of U.S. servicemen and women and their families, emphasizing the alarming rate of suicide among veterans, to supporters along the 200-mile route.
