Twenty-four 4-H members from Livingston Parish participated in the 97th Annual 4-H University held June 21-23 at LSU.

The following 4-H members participated in this event. They are Renee’ Picou, Hunter Rutherford, Makayla Labranche, Makenna Labranche, Matthew Dunn, Max Coats, Savannah Klier, Landon Denicola, Stacey Devall, Kendra Sharp, Joshua Stafford, Lanie Hanna, Catie Rutherford, Maia Delatte, Andrew Williams, Aaron Bigner, Summer Underwood, Jade Jenkins, Caraline Abels, Korey Hymel, Nicole Ballard, Chelsey Ellsworth, Lauren Steele, and Kelsey Racca.

These 4-H members competed with other youth from around the state.

The following members placed in the blue ribbon group: Renee’ Picou from Doyle Junior and Senior High, fifth place 4-H Has Talent; Makayla Labranche, member at large from Maurepas, fifth place, Fashion Revue/Special Occasion; and Makenna Labranche, member at large from Maurepas, third place, Fashion Revue/Casual.

Also, Maia Delatte, Max Coats and Savannah Klier from Springfield High School, state winning team in the dairy judging contest; Landon Denicola, Stacey Devall and Summer Underwood from Denham Springs High, third place, dairy judging team; Maia Delatte, state winner, individual in dairy judging; Savannah Klier, second place, individual in dairy judging; Max Coats, fourth place, individual in dairy judging; Stacey Devall, fifth place, individual in dairy judging; and Landon Denicola, blue ribbon, dairy judging.

Jade Jenkins, Caraline Abels, and Korey Hymel from Springfield High School were the state winning team in the poultry judging contest. Nicole Ballard, Lauren Steele, and Chelsey Ellsworth from Springfield High School placed fourth, poultry judging team. Also receiving awards were Jade Jenkins, second place, individual poultry judging; and Korey Hymel, blue ribbon, poultry judging.

The daily and poultry winning teams qualified for a trip to the national contests in the fall.

Each night the 4-Her’s participated in an evening assembly at the LSU Pete Maravich Assembly Center.
