SPCA of Livingston will hold its third annual Rock, Roll and Rescue open car show for all cars, trucks and motorcycles from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday in the parking lot of Whitney Bank, 523 Florida Blvd. SW, Denham Springs. All ages are welcome to attend.
The show will feature food, vendors, drawings, prizes, awards, a “trunk or treat,” witchy woman pinup contest, kids’ costume contest, pet adoptions and a witches’ cauldron gumbo cook-off.
Proceeds benefit SPCA’s mission to raise awareness of the plight of animals in southeastern Louisiana, to teach and foster good pet parenting practices and to promote spay and neuter programs.
Professional paranormal investigators from Everyday Paranormal and Louisiana Spirits will share their stories from the field from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Watson Branch of Livingston Parish Library.
Kick off National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo, with a write-in from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch of Livingston Parish Library. Snacks and coffee will be provided. This session is for participants 18 and older.
NaNoWriMo, which takes place every November, is a creative exercise in which participants begin working toward the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 30.

Vamp it up
Adult fans of “The Vampire Diaries” are in for an evening of trivia, crafts, vampire-inspired treats and a discussion comparing the book with the TV show.

Teen Advisory Board
The new Teen Advisory Board at the Watson Branch of Livingston Parish Library meets from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Board members are ages 12 to 18 and plan library programs, volunteer at the branch and help choose books and materials for the young adult section.
Sit down and sew
Enjoy Sit and Sew at Livingston Parish Library’s Main Branch from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5. Adults 18 and older should bring a sandwich and a project or two.

Walker’s veterans parade rolls at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, beginning at Walker High School, traveling toward La. 447, then down Florida Boulevard to Palmetto and back to the school.
