Girls ages 6 to 11 can learn self-defense moves from an expert during a “Girl Power!” program at the Main Branch of the Livingston Parish Library from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday. The event will wrap up with a Wonder Woman-inspired craft.

Mason jar candles class

Instructors will be on hand to help adults make their own scented mason jar candles using soy wax, dyes and natural scents from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the Livingston Parish Library’s South Branch, 23477 La. 444, Livingston.

Tech guidance offered

One-on-one tech help for ages 18 and older is available Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch Library, 8101 U.S. 190, Denham Springs, or 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the South Branch Library. Register at your respective library.

Staff members will assist you with your gadget, setting up a new email address or signing up for Facebook in 30-minute sessions. You should have a clear goal for what you’d like to accomplish during your session, and bring in any device you need help with.

Library staff will not be able to repair broken equipment, troubleshoot hardware and software problems or assist with nonstandard software such as Photoshop or Final Cut Pro.

Jacket Pride rehearsals

Summer rehearsals for the Denham Springs High School Jacket Pride Marching Band will be held July 20-31 in preparation for the upcoming football and competition marching season.

Also, the Jacket Pride Band Boosters seeks donations of food or money for camp meals and snacks.
