The Livingston and Tangipahoa Volunteers for Family and Community met Aug. 13 for an officer training session at Walker Baptist Church.

Vice President Gloria Flick welcomed the members, and Ladybug President Madeline Maehren gave the prayer. Learah Moss, Can Do’s Family Life chairwoman, presented a program on identity theft.

The officer and committee chairwomen overview followed, with the roles and responsibilities of the offices and committee chairwomen. Presenters were Flick, offices of president and vice president; Albany President Mary Thornhill, offices of secretary and treasurer; Ladybug Secretary/Treasurer Gayle Miller, office of parliamentarian; and LSU AgCenter Area Nutrition Agent Layne Langley, office of reporter.

Sharing job descriptions and offering program suggestions from the Educational Committee were Pam Nevle, environment chairwoman; Jinx Berthelot, Family Life chairwoman; Carolyn Carpenter, literacy chairwoman; and Janette Berkley, international chairwoman.

Before a light lunch, Thornhill addressed the group and spoke about recruitment.
