Most Louisiana Lottery Pick 3 and Pick 4 players select numbers with personal meaning. For Vietnam veteran Jerome W. Finkelstein, of Hammond, the last four digits of the serial number on the weapon assigned to him during the war were drawn, and he won $18,100 after choosing those numbers in the April 21 Pick 4 drawing. The numbers were 2-5-5-7.

Finkelstein, 66, who recounted his time in the military when he visited Lottery headquarters to claim his Pick 4 prize, said he received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and four Presidential Unit citations while serving in the Army, according to a news release from the Louisiana Lottery Corp.

Finkelstein received $12,670 after state and federal tax withholdings. He said he plans to use the money to pay bills and maybe purchase a new vehicle. The winning ticket was sold at Circle K No. 712 on South Morrison Boulevard in Hammond.
