Livingston Parish and the city of Walker will host a Household Hazardous Materials Collection Day from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 26 at Sidney Hutchinson Memorial Park in Walker. Residents are asked to enter the collection site from Corbin Avenue onto Ball Park Road at the north end, a news release from Livingston Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness said.

Accepted materials include acids, used oils, aerosols tires, batteries (except NiCad), helium, flammable liquids, lead, fluorescent bulbs, flammable solids, mercury, oxidizers, paint (oil and latex), pesticides and herbicides, propane cylinders (five gallons only), electronics (televisions, computers, etc.) and small fire extinguishers (no taller than two feet).

Materials that won’t be accepted include fireworks, non-residential waste, radioactive devices such as smoke and fire detectors, construction and demolition debris, school lab waste, fire extinguishers over two feet tall, appliances, furniture, power tools, medical waste, medicine, insulation, propane cylinders more than five gallons and gas cylinders.

Liquids should be labeled and in closed containers.

Reunion

The Denham Springs High School Class of 1994 will host its 20-year reunion from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 13 at Forrest Grove Plantation, 8743 Stephenson Drive, Denham Springs. The cost is $45 per person or $90 per couple if paid before Aug. 31, and $50 per person or $100 per couple if paid after Aug. 31.

Cancer bash

Laguna Beach Volleyball, 8026 Florida Blvd., Denham Springs, will host the Bash Cancer Summer Bash and Volleyball Tournament to benefit the American Cancer Society on July 19. Participants will compete in the tournament in teams of four. Team registration for this co-ed tournament is $75. The winning team will receive a prize, and door prizes will be available for the public. Music will be performed by local bands JJ Cat and The Wicked Garden. Satsuma Baptist Church, 29880 S. Satsuma Road, Livingston, will give away more than 100 backpacks filled with school supplies starting at 11 a.m. July 19. The event will feature jambalaya, snowcones, cotton candy and other food, fun, games and drawing for a door prize. Students must attend the event to receive a backpack. Grace Memorial Episcopal Church’s Armor Of God Vacation Bible School will be from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. July 22-24 at the church. The Vacation Bible School is for children ages 4-11. A light dinner will be provided followed by fun and fellowship.
