The Livingston Parish Chamber of Commerce will partner again this year with American Express as a Neighborhood Champion for Small Business Saturday. Neighborhood Champions encourage small businesses to participate and inspire their communities to shop small in support of locally owned businesses.

Small Business Saturday will be the Saturday after Thanksgiving, Nov. 29. Participating business are provided with resources and support to help them plan for the event, Chamber officials said.

Christmas concert

The award-winning Livingston Parish children’s choirs will present their 24th annual Christmas Concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 5 at 7 at Live Oak United Methodist Church, 34890 La. 16, Watson.

The concert features the Apprentice Choir, made up of children from kindergarten through third grade; the Chorus, for children in grades fourth through high school; and the Chorale, the auditioned touring choir, with youths ranging in ages from fourth grade to 12th grade.

Mighty Moms Thanksgiving

Mighty Moms is seeking volunteers to provide Thanksgiving side dishes to local needy families.

If you are interested in adopting a family this Thanksgiving, send an email to by Nov. 10 to sign up.

Abundant Life Church, 206 Edgewood Drive, Denham Springs, will provide turkeys and hams as well as tea, rolls and packaging.

Volunteers who choose to deliver meals will need to attend a planning and prayer meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the celebration room in the foyer of the Abundant Life Church, where they will be assigned a family. On Nov. 25, volunteers will need to be at the Outreach Center between 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. to pick up and deliver meals.

Talent show

Albany High School will host its annual Talent Show starting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday and 8 p.m. Friday at the school. Admission is $2 for adults and $1 for students. For information, call the school at (225) 567-9319.

‘Clays for Christmas’

A sporting clay shoot to benefit Sheriff Jason Ard’s Christmas Crusade will start at 7:30 a.m. Friday at Riverside Lodge, 52400 La. 16 North, in Denham Springs, behind Lucky Magnolia Truck Stop. Teams of four will cost $600. To be a section sponsor costs $1,200, and includes sponsorship of section and team fees.

Fall fair

Stars and Twinkles, of Livingston Parish Public Schools, will hold a Fall Fair at Denham Springs Freshman High from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Vendors will have crafts, jewelry, food, games, fun jumps and activities available. Raffles for an Xbox and a jambalaya pot with cooking tools will be held, with winners announced at the fair.

The event will raise money for activities and supplies for students with significant disabilities and autism in the Stars and Twinkles social-community groups.
