Hammond Eastside’s Parent and Teacher Organization hosted the first Grandparents’ Day on Oct. 15 at the school.

More than 300 family members participated in the event, school officials said in a news release. The festivities included refreshments, crafts, family photos and a Scholastic Book Fair.

Grandparents and students chose between taking a fall-themed or a Renaissance-themed family picture. Students created and decorated picture frames with their grandparents. The children also shopped in the book fair with their grandparents.

Hammond Eastside’s PTO planned, prepared and facilitated the event, the release said.
