A Door of Hope’s 5K Run/Walk for Hope will be Nov. 1 at the Denham Springs Train Station Park.
This year’s theme is a “Royalty Run for Hope,” and men can show their support by wearing their favorite purple and gold clothing and wearing crowns and tiaras.
This year’s special guest will be “Frozen’s” Elsa and Anna. Participants can enjoy music, face painting and free food and drinks and hear testimonies of women whose lives have been changed.
Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the run starts at 9 a.m. Registration, which includes a T-shirt, is $30 for adults and $20 for children ages 6 to 12. Children 5 and younger get in free. Register at www.eventbrite.com and type in Royalty Run for Hope.

First United Methodist Church of Denham Springs is partnering with Red Cross to provide disaster relief training to help Louisiana residents when disasters strike. The program aims to recruit and train members from corporate and community organizations to serve as Red Cross volunteers in times of disaster or crisis.
The event is free, and lunch will be provided. Training will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 13 at the church, 316 Centerville St. NW.

Fine art association
The Denham Springs Fine Art Association is an organization of local artists committed to promoting art education, professional aid and encouragement to all artists at all levels. The DSFAA meets at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of each month at the Denham Springs Municipal Building, 941 Government Drive.
The meeting on Sept. 2 will feature Cheri Fry, who will demonstrate a watercolor layering effect with pencils, crayons and gouache.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard’s third annual golf tournament will be held from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sept. 26 at Carter Plantation, 23475 Carter Trace, Springfield.
The fees are $100 for a hole sponsorship; $600 for a birdie sponsorship, which includes a four-man team; $800 for an eagle sponsorship; which includes team and hole sponsorships, the mulligan package and name on the sponsor banner; and $900 for a hole in one sponsorship, which includes the eagle package and a reserve sponsor table.
Prizes for closest to the hole, longest drive and hole in one will be given.

The Albany High School cheerleaders and Lady Stingerz dance team have been invited to perform in the 2015 Capital One Bowl pregame show in Orlando, Florida.
Both teams placed first in their divisions at camps at Southeastern Louisiana University.
Donations of any amount are sought to get the teams to Florida, team officials said.
