North Oaks Health System Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer Michele Kidd Sutton, of Hammond, has been elected to serve on the Council of Regents for the American College of Healthcare Executives, effective March 15. Sutton will represent the council’s membership in the Southeast Region of the U.S.

The council serves as a link between the American Council of Heathcare Executives and members by approving governance and membership regulations, as well a promotional tool for the professional society’s programs, services and activities.

With a career spanning 27 years in health care administration with North Oaks Health System, Sutton also is the CEO and administrator of North Oaks Medical Center. Sutton has belonged to the American College of Healthcare Executives since 2004 and was elected president of its Southeast Louisiana Chapter for 2013 and 2014.

Sutton earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing and master’s degree in business administration from Southeastern Louisiana University. She earned board certification in health care management as an American College of Healthcare Executives fellow in 2009.

In 2014, Sutton was honored as one of the Top 20 Most Influential Women in Tangipahoa Parish by The Daily Star. In 2007, she was recognized as one of 50 Women of the Year honorees by New Orleans CityBusiness, and in 2004, the Louisiana Society of Hospital Public Relations and Marketing distinguished her as Marketer of the Year.

Sutton also belongs to The Healthcare Roundtable for Chief Operating Officers and the Louisiana Hospital Association, where she is member of the Legislative, Regulatory and Policy Committee and through which she was appointed to the Department of Health and Hospitals’ Perinatal Clinical Guidelines Committee.
