Holy Ghost Catholic School in Hammond celebrated Autism Awareness Month on April 15 with a fundraiser to benefit school’s the Class for Autism.
Students donated a minimum of $2 to wear blue shirts, socks, accessories and other gear. Nearly $1,300 was raised.
National Junior Honor Society Secretary Juliette LeRay presented the idea to NJHS members and sponsors at a recent meeting and received approval from Principal Donna Wallette.
LeRay is passionate about autism awareness because her brother, Luc, has autism, a news release said.
