The Brushy Creek Meteor Crater art exhibition featuring artist Marsha Allen Needham is on display for public viewing through the end of February at the Main Branch of Livingston Parish Library.

Needham’s oil paintings reveal a discovery of history of the only known meteor crater in Louisiana and one of only 120 on Earth. Paintings are not for sale.

Woven heart ornaments

Set hearts aflutter at Livingston Parish Library by learning basic weaving techniques to make your own woven heart ornament to take home. This activity is for ages 18 and older; registration is required.

Free tax prep assistance

Livingston Parish Library will host more free tax preparation sessions for residents with an income limit of $60,000 for 2015. Appointments are required.

Bring tax documents such as W-2s, 1099s and information for deductions and credits along with a copy of last year’s tax return and a Social Security card for yourself, a spouse and dependents. You also may bring proof of a bank account for direct deposit. Volunteers will prepare most simple returns.

Closed for Mardi Gras

All Livingston Parish Library branches will be closed Tuesday in observance of Mardi Gras. Regular business hours will resume Wednesday.

Disney throwback

Interactive movie adventure

“The Princess Bride” comes to the Denham Springs-Walker Branch of Livingston Parish Library from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 11 in an interactive movie adventure for ages 12 to 18.

There will be props and instructions provided for the movie, refreshments and an opportunity to create a movie character using Perler beads.

Power of Hope Banquet

The Power of Hope Banquet 2016, benefiting A Door of Hope Ministries, will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. March 12 at 30372 Eden Church Road, Denham Springs.

The evening will feature dinner by Courtlands Catering, a silent auction including an autographed, signed book by actor Stephen Baldwin, testimonies from A Door of Hope graduates and special guests.

The featured speaker is Carol Everett, a former abortion clinic operator, who is committed to safeguarding the health of women and their babies and also speaks to men and women who have experienced a pregnancy loss, a news release said.
