Four Denham Springs High School tennis players qualified for the 2015 Boys’ and Girls’ State Tennis Tournament held April 27 through May 1 in Monroe.

In singles matches, Matthew Whitehead, a senior, lost in third round of regionals, but won in first match at state 6-0, 6-0. She was the first player from DSHS to win a match at the state tournament since the 1980s, a news release said. She won an honorable mention nod on the All-Metro team.

Kimberly Crenshaw, a freshman, lost in the fourth round of regionals. She received honorable mention on the All-Metro team.

The doubles team of seniors Haley Davis and Emily Loup lost in the fourth round of regionals and received honorable mention on the All-Metro team.

The team is coached by Bob McMurray and Diane McMurray.
