Top Livingston Parish teachers and principals will be honored May 21 at two events.

Teachers of the Year Amanda Robinson, Doyle Elementary School; Troy Glorioso, Springfield Middle; and Delanea Gates Live Oak High; and Principals of the Year Debbie Tate, Albany Upper Elementary; Bryan Tyler Wax, Denham Springs Junior High; and Jason St. Pierre, Walker High; will be honed during a 6 p.m. reception at the Livingston Parish Public Schools Special Education Auditorium.

The principals and teachers will be honored later that day during the School Board meeting, which starts at 7 p.m.

VFW plans trip to Philly

Interested in traveling to Philadelphia and Amish Country?

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7017 VFW Travelers group is planning a trip to Lancaster and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania June 6-14.

Those taking part will travel on a motor coach bus, a news release from the group said.

The trip includes a guided tour of Amish Country and stop at Hershey Chocolate World.

The cost of the trip is $745 per person for double occupancy and $985 for single occupancy and includes 14 meals.

Golf tournament planned

The Carter Plantation Community Association’s sixth annual golf tournament is scheduled to begin with registration at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the Carter Plantation Golf Course in Springfield.

The tournament, which starts at 1 p.m., is open to the first 36 registered teams and the format is a shotgun start four-man scramble.

The cost is $600 for a foursome.

The tournament benefits the Springfield Fire Department and the Historic Carter House Society Inc.

Children’s art class to be held

Children’s Drawing and Painting: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.,

The Arts Council of Livingston Parish is hosting a children’s drawing and painting class from 6 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Students will be shown a famous work of art done during the post-impressionist period, given a brief history of the artists’ piece and their technique and then asked to interpret the artwork in a different medium.
