LSU Agricultural Center Area Nutrition Agent Layne Langley held nutrition programs with the youths at Children’s Edition in Denham Springs this summer.
Langley taught the children about the importance of hand washing and food safety and guided the youths in making strawberry pizzas.
During the physical activity program, Langley stressed the importance of getting at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day and discussed the three kinds of physical activity: aerobic, muscle strengthening and bone strengthening. The children then took part in physical activities.
The physical activity program ended with the children preparing ingredients for a fruit smoothie. Several children were able to pedal a smoothie bike that powered a blender.
