Taffy Morrison, a representative with Well-Ahead Louisiana, will be the guest speaker at the Livingston Parish Human Services Coalition’s September meeting at 10:30 a.m. Monday.
Morrison will explain how small choices toward wellness allow people the opportunity for balance.
The meeting is at North Oaks Medical Complex, 17199 Spring Ranch Road, Livingston.
The Arts Council of Livingston Parish will feature Michelle Conques’ students in its “Spirited Artists” exhibit Oct. 5-30.
Featured artists are Angel Alello, Judy Alonzo, Carol Blanchard, Jackie Braumuller, Conques, Barbara Fornias, Dot Guell, Larry Offner, Jerry Wacker and Shane Ward.
The public can meet the artists at a reception from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Arts Council Gallery, 133 N. Hummell St. in Denham Springs.

Create a masterpiece
“Monet’s Box,” a class project painting Monet’s works on a 4-inch wooden box, will be held from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Arts Council of Livingston Parish, 133 N. Hummell St., Denham Springs.
The class is for ages 10 through adult and is taught by Kathy Tedaldi.

Children’s art classes
Session 3 of fall 2015 children’s drawing and painting art classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 20, Oct. 27, Nov. 3 and Nov. 10 at South Live Oak Elementary School, 8400 Cecil Drive, Watson.
The classes are open to students currently enrolled in grades two through six and are taught by Kerry Curtin.

Ask a lawyer
A free walk-in legal clinic will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at the Main Branch of the Livingston Parish Library. Two local attorneys will be on hand for brief, one-on-one legal counseling and advice.

Knit for a cause
Get free knitting lessons at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch of the Livingston Parish Library at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Learn the knit stitch while working on a blanket square to send to Warm Up America, a nonprofit organization that distributes afghans to the needy. Knitters will take their squares home to finish.
A follow-up session will be held in October where participants will learn how to bind off their project and prep their finished squares.

Public book sale
The Friends of the Livingston Library System will hold a public book sale from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 3 at the Denham Springs-Walker Branch of the Livingston Parish Library.
The organization supports the Livingston Parish Library by raising funds and helping to inform the public of the services provided by the libraries.
