Guests learned about snakes Sept. 2 during the free Science on Tap series held each month at Tope la Catering in Hammond.

During the event, guests learned about the snakes that exist in their neighborhoods from biology professor David Sever. With 54 snakes in the state, Sever said Louisiana is “the snakiest state in the union.” The series is sponsored by the Department of Biological Sciences. A schedule of future topics can be found on the department’s website, southeastern.edu/ biology or by calling (985) 549-3740.
