Lt j.g. Michael Melendez, commanding officer of the Baton Rouge Division of the Naval Sea Cadet Corps, announced the promotion of Patrick Sundara Salmon, of Denham Springs, from seaman apprentice to seaman.

Salmon is a junior at Live Oak High School.

The Naval Sea Cadet Corps is a federally chartered youth training organization that helps teens ages 14 to 17 explore careers in the Navy and Coast Guard ashore and afloat.
