Parading in Denham Springs
The Denham Springs Christmas Parade rolls at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The 2017 First Guaranty Bank Christmas Parade presented by Kiwanis Club of Denham Springs starts at Denham Springs High School and travel down Range Avenue through the Antique District and ends at Veterans Boulevard.
This year's theme is "A Hometown Christmas (Past, Present, Future)."

Walker's Santa in the Park event is at 6 p.m. Saturday, in Sidney Hutchinson Park, 30500 Corbin Ave. Hot chocolate, cookie and face painting will be provided by Walker Baptist Church. Attendees can take photos of their children with Santa but are asked to take only two to help move the line. No pets are allowed near the Santa line area.
A charity garage sale will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at James Drug Store, 257 Florida Ave., Denham Springs. All money raised will benefit Paws4Liberty. Donations also will be accepted.
Puppet Parade Party
Immediately following the Livingston Christmas Parade on Saturday, the Main Branch of the Livingston Parish Library will have hot chocolate, winter stories and a puppet show. The parade starts at 6:30 p.m. Also, library staff members will be in the parade. Call (225) 686-4160 for details.

Jingle & Mingle
Livingston Young Professionals will Jingle & Mingle from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Bass Pro Shops' bar area by Islamorada Fish Co.
The Historic Carter House Society will host an Open House — Plantation Style from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays, Dec. 10 and 17 at Carter House, 30325 Carter Cemetery Road, Springfield. Tickets will be sold at the door and cost $5 for adults or $10 per family. Children under 12 are free as are members of the society. Purchased tickets go into a drawing for a door prize. Join the Denham Springs High School bands, led by Director Andrew Hunter and Assistant Director Carlye Latas, at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, for the annual winter concert. The event will be held in Hornsby Gym at the high school campus, 1000 N. Range Ave.
The combined Concert and Symphonic bands will open the evening’s performance followed by the school’s Wind Ensemble with special guests.
The free event will feature holiday music and is open to the public.
Prospective students and their parents can attend an informational meeting to learn more about the Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts. It is at 6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 12, in the meeting room of the Albany-Springfield Branch Library.

Adults can learn to cook, improve their skills or show off their kitchen talent in the Main Branch of the Livingston Parish Library’s new culinary book club. The next meeting is at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14.
