Nearly 50 students at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond recently were inducted into the university’s chapter of the national honor society, Phi Kappa Phi.

Awards for junior students from Southeastern's five academic colleges included one presented to Daniela Raygadas Dominguez, of Hammond, College of Science and Technology.

Recognized with the Outstanding Freshman Award was Lauren Hebert, of Ponchatoula, while Kevin Bokun, of Walker, was cited as the Outstanding Honor Student. The society’s Lou Ballard Endowed Scholarship was awarded to Pankaj Sherchan, a resident of Hammond.

To be considered for membership in the organization, a student must be in the top 10 percent of their senior or graduate class or a second semester junior in the top 7.5 percent of his or her class.

Hammond: Chelsea Alexandra, Elizabeth Amort, Theresa Herriford, Subash Mishra, Kelsa Pellettiere, Tika Pahadi, Pankaj Sherchan, Sara Simmons, Heather Smith.
