Georgia-Pacific Port Hudson Operations recently donated 13,000 reams of office paper and 16,000 rolls of paper towels to schools in Livingston and Ascension parishes.
Many schools in both parishes lost everything in the August floods.
“Helping local schools with some of their required school supplies that were lost is just one way that our mill can further our support for education in the community,” said Kelvin Hill, vice president of operations at Port Hudson Operations.
Livingston Parish Schools Superintendent Rick Wentzel thanked Georgia-Pacific for its generosity.
“Ascension Public Schools is very grateful to Georgia-Pacific for its generous donation of copy paper and paper towels," Ascension Public Schools Superintendent David Alexander said. "These are items our schools use every single day and to have an entire shipment donated will certainly help in our flood recovery efforts.”
Chris Darte, from Mode Transportation, donated the transportation to the school systems’ warehouses since most of the schools service vehicles were damaged.
