HAMMOND — The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an 8-month-old baby boy who was left in a car for hours Wednesday.

A preliminary investigation determined the child was unintentionally left inside the vehicle from about 8 a.m. until he was discovered about 4:30 p.m.,  Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Dawn L. Panepinto said in a news release Wednesday night.

All findings of the investigation will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office once the probe is completed, Panepinto said.

No other information was released.
