The Middendorf’s Mancha Run has announced its nonprofit recipient for the 2018 event.
Middendorf's Restaurant will host its 10th annual Middendorf’s Manchac Run on Nov. 10. Every year, the restaurant chooses a nonprofit to receive all the proceeds from the race. For 2018, it’s Our Daily Bread Food Bank.
“We were lucky enough to get a tour at their recent pancake breakfast fundraiser, and we were so impressed with what they do with so little,” said Middendorf’s owner Karen Pfeifer. “We’re hoping not only to raise a lot of money but to get them more exposure so others will join in supporting them.”
Our Daily Bread is based in Hammond. The Tangipahoa Parish’s food bank supports more than 26 food pantries and distributes more than 30,000 food boxes and 16,000 hot meals each year, a news release said.
“We are so excited and honored to be chosen as this year’s recipient,” said Our Daily Bread’s Executive Director Myrna Jordan. “My board is excited, and we even have a runner in our office who is excited. I’m ready to get out there and make sure everyone knows about the race.”
Middendorf’s Manchac Run features 10-mile, 10K and 5K races that start and finish at Middendorf’s Restaurant on Old U.S. 51 in Manchac. All runners and walkers are welcome, and participants will be treated to a post-race catfish dinner.
Last year, $20,100 was raised for Child Advocacy Services — a record that Pfeifer said she hopes to break in November.
“We can do this for Our Daily Bread with the community behind us. Please join the race with your family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, and help us spread the word.”
Registration and information will be available soon on www.nolarunning.com. Any business that is interested in sponsoring should contact Christie Gardiner at email@example.com or (985) 386-6666 ext. 5.
