Gov. John Bel Edwards recently announced appointments to several state boards and commissions.

Eleanor R. Murrell, of Denham Springs, was appointed to the Louisiana Rehabilitation Council. The council’s duties include reviewing, analyzing and advising Louisiana Rehabilitation Services within the Louisiana Workforce Commission regarding eligibility, extent, scope and effectiveness of services provided, a news release said. It also reviews functions performed by state agencies regarding people with disabilities gaining employment.

Murrell is a vocational rehabilitation counselor with the Louisiana Workforce Commission and will serve the council in the same capacity.

H. Paul Hermann Jr., of Ponchatoula, was appointed to the Veterans Affairs Commission, which is responsible for adopting and promoting rules and regulations governing the operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs. The commission also advises the department’s secretary regarding the welfare of veterans and makes and publishes special and annual reports to the governor, a news release said.

Hermann is an Air Force veteran and serves as adjutant of the Louisiana Department of the Disabled American Veterans. His nomination by the Louisiana Department of the Disabled American Veterans was required by statute.
