Bail has been set at $228,000 for the woman accused of killing a mother and her infant son in a drunken driving crash Sunday evening, according to the Tangipahoa Parish Jail.
Jillian Pamela Ramsay, 36, of Loranger, had not yet posted bail and was being held at the jail as of Wednesday afternoon, according to the jail.
Louisiana State Police say Ramsay caused a crash that killed 19-year-old Shelly Mulkey and her 7-month-old son Ryan McCollum Jr. in Tickfaw on Christmas Eve. Police said Ramsey was was fleeing an earlier car crash on La. 1065 at 8:44 p.m. when she rear-ended the car driven by Mulkey's fiance, Ryan McCollum Sr.
Ramsay was booked on two counts of vehicular homicide, hit-and-run and careless operation, according to state police.
McCollum, who suffered burns in the crash, told The Advocate on Monday the couple had gotten engaged just hours earlier, and Mulkey was pregnant with their second child.
