Juban Crossing will house a super-precinct for the Nov. 8 elections, after several polling places suffered extensive damage during the August flood.
The precincts being moved to the shopping center had been housed at Southside Elementary, Southside Junior High and Denham Spring Elementary – three school campuses that remain closed due to the flood damage. Those precincts are 24, 24B, 24C, 26, 26A-C and 28A-B.
Juban Crossing also will serve as a second location for early voting, which begins Oct. 25.
The Secretary of State’s Office also has relocated six additional precincts displaced by flooding.
Three precincts formerly housed at Springfield High School – 14, 31 and 38 – will move to Springfield Elementary. Precinct 25, which used Denham Springs City Hall for voting, will relocate to Denham Springs Junior High. Precinct 30 will move from Albany’s maintenance building to Albany Middle School, and Precinct 34 will move from French Settlement Town Hall to the village’s high school.
Also, relocated are Precincts 1B and 1C, which were at the Old Live Oak High School gym. Voters in those precincts can vote at Live Oak Elementary's cafeteria, 35194 Old La. 16.
