Landscape painting for children
Arts Council of Livingston Parish invites children ages 8-12 to “Paint like O’Leary.” Liz Harman will instruct students to paint a landscape picture like artist Connor O’Leary. The class will be from 10:30 a.m. to noon March 17 at the gallery, 133 Hummell St., Denham Springs. Prepayment of the class is required to register. The fee is $10 and all supplies are included. The Livingston Parish Band Festival is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Denham Springs Junior High. Bands from Juban Parc, North Corbin Albany Middle, Southside, Live Oak Junior, Westside, Albany High and Live Oak High will perform in a chance to receive feedback from current and former music educators.
Dance squad clinic
Denham Springs High School will host a pre-tryout clinic for any female student enrolled in eighth through 11th grade wanting to try out for Jackettes for the 2018-19 school year. The clinic will be March 10 in the Denham Springs Freshman High gym. Packets are available from the front office. Tryouts will be March 24-25.
The Arts Council of Livingston Parish, 133 Hummell St., Denham Springs, will exhibit its 2017 Artist of the Year, Elizabeth Harman, along with Albany and Holden Talented Art Students for March. The exhibit opens March 3 and runs through March 29. A second Saturday Reception with the artists present is set for 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 10. Light refreshments will be provided. Safe senior driving
There will be an AARP 55 Alive Defensive Driving class for seniors from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. March 21 at the Livingston Council on Aging, 949 Government Drive, Denham Springs. The cost of the class will be $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. For questions, call (225) 664-0664 or (225) 664-9343.
Car show planned
The Livingston Parish Literacy and Technology Center is holding its fourth annual Car Show as a fundraiser for the automotive class from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 24 at 9261 Florida Blvd., Walker.
