Sacred Heart of Jesus School’s 2018 Mother Seton honoree is John Musso, third from left. With Musso, from left, are Home and School Co-President Bobbie Hunter, Principal C.J. Laird and Home and School Co-President Bridget Akin.

John Musso is the 2018 Mother Seton honoree at Sacred Heart of Jesus School. He will be recognized with other Diocese of Baton Rouge honorees at the 2018 Mother Seton Awards Luncheon on March 29.

The Diocesan Home and School Association sponsors the annual Mother Seton Award, given to individuals for exemplary volunteer service and dedication to home, school and church. Honores espouse Gospel values and emulate the qualities of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, the first United States-born citizen to be canonized by the Roman Catholic Church, a news release said.

Musso and his wife, Angela, are the parents of eighth-grader Anna, Class of 2012 member Nathan and Class of 2015 member Josie. The Mussos belong to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lakeland, where Musso is a member of the finance committee and the Knights of Columbus.

Musso serves on Sacred Heart’s Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation team, advisory board and Men’s Club, where he has been president for four years and began the annual Men’s Club raffle. He also has served 10 years as an assistant cross-country coach and eight as an assistant track coach. Musso has been named Outstanding Volunteer for the Home & School Association and the Men’s Club. He and his cooking crew have prepared jambalaya for school functions for 15 years.
