On April 28, the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine hosted the 43rd annual Awards and Honors Banquet in the SVM Auditorium and gave out more than $159,000 in scholarships and awards.

The banquet was sponsored in part by Nestlé Purina Pet Care and the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association.

Both faculty and staff awards were bestowed, and students received monetary awards, memberships to professional organizations, journal subscriptions, plaques, certificates and veterinary medicine manuals and supplies.

First-, second- and third-year students who received scholarships and awards include:

Hallie Anderson (Class of 2018), Baton Rouge, Margaret Lucille Thomas Taylor Memorial Scholarship; Salsbury Scholarship; Hickory Small Animal Hospital Scholarship;

Kristen Armstrong (Class of 2018), Baton Rouge, Salsbury Scholarship and Student of the Year for the Class of 2018;

Victoria Blair (Class of 2018), Baton Rouge, Kutun Scholarship;

Christian Folk (Class of 2018), Baton Rouge, Mike the Tiger Caretaker Award and Salsbury Scholarship;

Amanda Wolff (Class of 2018), Baton Rouge, Dr. K.C. Toups Memorial Scholarship and Smithers-McMahon Business Scholarship.
