Six students University Laboratory School were recognized at the regional level of the 2018 Scholastic Art and Writing competition.

Senior Delaney Smith received the regional level’s highest honor, the Gold Key award, for her self-portrait painting, which goes on to judging at the national level.

Silver Key awards went to Egan Gardiner for his personal essay, “My Last Innocent Christmas,” and Elizabeth Hackenberg for her personal essay, “The Slow-Moving Moon.” Among those receiving Honorable Mention were Carrington Brignac for his short story, “Two Blinks”; Leighton Delaune for her personal essay, “Revival,” and her writing portfolio, “Chronicle”; and Dakota Pye for her two poems, “The Wrong Word” and “A Bad Day.”

The regional awards ceremony will be held in the Grand Ballroom of the University of New Orleans on April 15.
