No-kill garden

Brown-thumb 20-somethings can create a no-kill, painted succulent garden at River Center Branch Library from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Supplies will be provided.


Celebrate Juneteenth from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at Gus Young Park with recreational games, music, socialization, a community health fair and refreshments. State Rep. C. Denise Marcelle is sponsoring the event.

Juneteenth is the oldest known celebration in the United States commemorating the end of slavery, according to BREC.

The Main Library is accepting registration for Wednesday’s Cool Careers session on beauty and personal care. It’s from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in large conference room 102.

A panel of experts will cover careers in the beauty industry with teens and young adults interested in exploring new career paths.
