Louisiana fifth-graders can flex their mathematics skills at the seventh annual Louisiana Elementary Math Olympiad at Kenilworth Science and Technology Charter School on Nov. 11.

"It is such a great opportunity for students to get out and test their math skills against other students throughout the state," said Kenilworth Assistant Principal RaKeema Thomas Toussaint, previously a math teacher. "Not only do students come excited to show their skills, they also get to experience some of the awesome STEM exhibits offered at KST."

The event is a one-hour, paper-based test covering an array of math topics. Students can win prizes including iPods and Kindles. Gift cards will be awarded to the teachers of winning students. Parents can win door prizes, enjoy lunch and attend parent workshops during the students’ paper tests.

Registration is available online at LAEMO.org. Study materials and sample questions are available at LAEMO.org/start-studying.
