Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center has been chosen to participate as a Pathway Innovator in the Pursuing Excellence in Clinical Learning Environments Initiative, a news release said.

The selection came from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education. Invitations to the four-year initiative were extended to eight teaching hospitals across the country to create new models of integration between health care delivery systems and graduate medical education.

"Our Lady of the Lake was selected based on a demonstrated commitment and evidence of a culture of safety for patients in our clinical learning environment," said Laurinda Calongne, chief academic officer of Our Lady of the Lake.

The other participating hospitals are Children's National Medical Center in Washington, D.C.; Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland; Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine; Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester, in Rochester, New York; The University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School; University of California (San Francisco) School of Medicine; and University of Chicago Medical Center.

The institutions will gather for the first Innovators Forum slated for Sept. 19-21 at the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education office in Chicago.
