Capital Area CASA receives state awards _lowres

The Capital Area Court Appointed Special Advocate Association received awards at the Geaux Blue for Kids Awards night hosted by Louis ianaChildren.org on May 20 at the Capitol Welcome Center.

CASA volunteer Marvin Taylor was honored as Louisiana CASA Child Advocate of the Year. Since 2010, he has spent more than 250 hours advocating for five teen boys in the foster care system.

CASA received the Diversity Leadership Award for its efforts to achieve diversity and inclusion among its board of directors, staff and volunteers. Diversity, inclusion and cultural competency are reflected in governance, training, volunteer recruitment, staff development and advocacy for abused and neglected children.
