Texas schools and a church affected by August flooding will receive $1,102 from Sacred Heart of Jesus School students from their annual Halloween Walk-A-Thon, held Oct. 31.
The funds benefit Christ the Redeemer School and St. Cecilia School in Houston and First Pentecostal Church in Vidor, all of which aided Sacred Heart families after the August 2016 flood.
Sacred Heart students donned their best costumes for the walk, with eighth-graders Ian Barber, Aubrey Carroll, Raelyn Edwards and Anna Musso serving as Monsters of Ceremony.
The Best Group Costume went to the Breakfast Mascots, comprised of sixth-graders Lilla Aucoin as Froot Loops’ Toucan Sam, Cecilia Bookman as Frosted Flakes’ Tony the Tiger, Averie Harris as Lucky Charms’ Lucky the Leprechaun and Caroline Martinez as the Trix Rabbit. Seventh-grader Cooper Bethea won Most Spirited Walker for his T. rex costume and the Most Creative award went to eighth-graders Brooklyn Hoffman and Claire Graves for their Starbucks costumes.
Shaving Cream and Cheese Ball Toss winners were Jack Massey, Gabi Barbin, Blake Hester, Claire Graves, Sophia Guillory and Kourtni Hughes, eighth grade; Tylen Daniels, Bennett Barber, Emma Graves, Connor Green and Charles Tramonte in a tie with Luke Broussard, Christian Francis, Ann Claire Harris, Kennedy Luster and Jack McKay, seventh grade; and Turner Hester, Nicholas Jacobs, Lilla Aucoin, Drew Ourso and Blanche Coleman, sixth grade.
