Karly Brown, of Baton Rouge, was among seniors at Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts recently offering advice to members of the junior class at the College Counseling Center.

Students learned about becoming competitive applicants in the college admissions process during a “Words from the Wise” presentation in February and asked for more. The College Counseling Center set up breakout sessions facilitated by seniors who shared their strategies, problem-solving skills and details of their college application journeys.

The seniors presented 19 breakout sessions over two days on a variety of topics including the application process at highly selective and competitive schools, binding application plans, applying to military academies, application types, college visits and more.
