Louisiana School for Math, Science, and the Arts sent 15 students to compete in the FBLA District III Leadership Conference on the campus of Northwestern State University on Feb. 9.
The competitors included Jada Bezue, a junior from Hammond; Ryann Hamilton, a sophomore from Baton Rouge; Nicholas Adams, a sophomore from Zachary; and Emery Haynes, a sophomore from Prairieville.
Bezue, Hamilton and Adams were among the 14 to advance to the state competition, to be held March 25-27 at the Lafayette Convention Center and Cajun Dome. Bezue placed superior in personal finance and excellent in job interview, Hamilton superior in instruction to business and Adams first in introduction to information technology.
FBLA is a nonprofit education association with a quarter million students preparing for careers in business and business-related fields, a news release said. It is organized on local, state and national levels, with business teachers, advisers and advisory councils guiding local chapters. State advisers and committee members coordinate chapter activities for the national organization.
