Girl Scouts Louisiana East met April 1 for its annual meeting, where it honored adult volunteers, outstanding principals and religious leaders.

Westdale Heights Academic Magnet Elementary School Principal Catasha Edwards received the Outstanding Principal Award, given to principals who provide outstanding support and encouragement for Girl Scouting in their schools. She was nominated for offering classrooms for after-school troop meetings, asking Girl Scouts to perform the flag ceremony at events and allowing troops to complete Take Action projects within the school.

The Volunteer of Excellence award was given to Stacy Verret, a lifelong Girl Scout. Her peers describe her as someone “who understands and imparts to her troop the value of being a Girl Scout and the Girl Scout program.” She is a manager of the troops funds and teaches the girls to be frugal with their money.
