Women in Dance LLC will host its first biannual Women in Dance Leadership Conference from Oct. 29-Nov. 1 at the Manship Theatre at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge.

Featured presenters will include Karole Armitage, artistic director of Armitage GONE! Dance, New York City; Dr. Ann Dils, Dance Department chairwoman at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte; Dr. Susan Leigh Foster, UCLA professor, recipient of the Leadership in the Field from the Congress on Research in Dance and Choreographer’s Fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts; Kim Jones, former principal dancer for the Martha Graham Dance Company; Amy Hall Garner, recipient of the 2011-12 Joffrey Ballet Winning Work; and Yin Mei, recipient of a Fulbright scholarship and Guggenheim Fellowship.

The ODC Dance Company from San Francisco and Thodos Dance Chicago will perform, marking the first dance performance of the 2015-16 Manship Theatre season. Twelve female choreographers and scholars from the U.S., Italy, Canada and Taiwan also will be featured.

The conference is open to all dance professionals, residents and students ages 16 and older who are interested in female leadership and performance arts.

Regular registration ends Sept. 30; the cost is $300. Late registration is Oct. 1-29 and is $350. College student registration, which ends Oct. 29, is $100. Sign up at WomenInDance.com/registration.
